The Classroom Catalyst Grants aim to empower educators to foster student-centered learning experiences through innovative projects and lessons. This grant provides funding and resources to support teachers in implementing inquiry-based activities that enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and effectively prepare students for careers and post-secondary education.
Grant Details
The purpose of the Classroom Catalyst Grant Program is to provide financial support for effective and creative initiatives to enhance the learning experience that would otherwise be unavailable through the school budget. Mini-grants will be awarded up to $1,000 for innovative classroom projects and lessons focusing on inquiry-based lessons and/or projects that effectively prepare students for careers and post-secondary education. All certified staff for grades 9-12 in eligible districts can apply.

- Chester
- Fairfield
- Kershaw
- Lexington One
- Lexington Two
- Lexington Three
- Lexington Four
- Lexington Richland Five
- Newberry
- Orangeburg
- Richland One
- Richland Two
The awards will be based on the following criteria:
- Improving student achievement and success.
- Infusing engaging concepts that address world-class knowledge, world-class skills, and Life and Career characteristics as outlined in the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate and the accompanying PSCG Competencies.
- Incorporating hands-on/project-based learning outcomes.
- Ensuring adaptability for other educators if resources are available.
Application Process
- The 2024/2025 application period is September 3rd through the 30th.
- Submission of an application DOES NOT guarantee grant funding.
- Up to $1,000 per project will be awarded, with a maximum total of $25,000 in grants awarded during the 2024/2005 academic year.
- Funds may be used to purchase equipment and/or technology as a classroom tool when integrated into a lesson plan. Funds may not be used to pay for guest speakers, professional development activities, office supplies, or capital improvements.
- All proposed projects must support course content and include measurable outcomes detailing how students will benefit from the project.
- Educators are limited to one grant application per year.
